Eileen, George and Peter George
Speller at front door of 20 Otley Road
Mary
Peter and Gyp with Grandpa George Speller in the deck chair. We did not
use the back garden, it was full of hens and droppings and bare earth. A
consequence of food rationing
Peter
George in the front garden but more interesting (sorry Peter) is Dad’s
first car which was inherited from Grandpa Allen. A Vauxhall. We had
holidays in this all five of us wedged in with Peter on Mum’s knee in
the front and Mary and Anne surrounded by luggage. We went to Seahouses in
it and broke down on the way.
It
was only the gearbox selector fork which used to jam. Dad fixed it in
about ten minutes I think.
The
blur is a swinging cricket bat
Peter George Speller wearing his
first (and nearly only) proper tie. Ma called it a "Bobby
Dazzler"
