Since the smoking ban 1600 pubs have closed . . . .10,000 people have lost their jobs . . . .

Girolamo Sirchia is a perfectly sinister antismoker: hypocritical, paternalistic, arrogant to the extreme, ex-smoker (the worst kind of anti), fanatical ideologist, morally clueless, a born crook. He can lie straight to your face while looking you in the eyes, although he cannot bear a steady gaze, such as an Italian court has now shown him.

Sirchia is a medical doctor. He became a hero of antitobacco when Italy had the sad distinction of becoming the second nation in Europe to embrace the Neo-Nazi healthist ideology after Ireland.

Coherently with the international fraud program, Sirchia has consciously lied to Italians about the effects of passive smoking exposure to human health, to forward his extreme smoking ban. That earned him the unconditional admiration of all fascists from left and right. To be fair, the Italian ban is less extreme than many other bans today, because it still allows smoker areas that are sealed away from non-smoker areas, as a submarine is sealed from water.

During his regime in the late Berlusconi government, Sirchia was charged with eight different counts of corruption and payolas, ranging from altering auctions to pocketing pharma money. Today Sirchia pays for some of them. From the Italian article to which we link:

“The former minister of health Girolamo Sirchia has been sentenced to three years of imprisonment during the Milan trial where he, and other seven people, have been tried for numerous payolas in the world of public health.

“The decision has been announced this morning by the fourth district of the tribunal, chaired by Judge Oscar Magi. […] The sentencing is harder than what required by the prosecutor, who asked for two years and nine months.

“Specifically, the former Berlusconi health minister has been judged guilty of corruption and embezzlement. … according to the magistrates, Sirchia has cashed payolas by multinationals to favour their supplies [over those of the competition].”

Please note that Sirchia put in a great effort to project the “immorality” of smokers, who “poisoned” innocent bystanders with their “fumes.” As usual, the singing chicken lays the egg.

The Public Health establishment cannot fail to recognise such a perfectly sinister antismoker so we remind them here.

Roy Castle smoked cigars. This is verified by two independant contacts and reported by a third party.

Bill 282, Mississippi, presented on Friday 25 January 2008:

“An act to prohibit certain food establishments from serving food to any person who is obese, based on criteria prescribed by the state department of health; to direct the department to prepare written materials that describe and explain the criteria for determining whether a person is obese and to provide those materials to the food establishments; to direct the department to monitor the food establishments for compliance with the provisions of this act; and for related purposes. Be it enacted by the legislature of the state of Mississippi.”

Dear Anne Cryer

Some years ago I ceased to be a member of the Labour party. I did this for various reasons including the Iraq war, ID cards and PFIs. I now note with dismay that a recent Rowntree report describes an ever widening gap between rich and poor in the UK.

I have reached the point where I can no longer bear to vote for the party that was built out of the toil and the hopes and the dreams of an honest working class. The reason? The endless chipping away of our civil liberties, our self determination and our common sense. Despite your election pledges you went the whole hog and banned smoking. The effect of this on the sociality of millions of people is incalculable. And what for? Because a cadre of vested interests chose to tell the biggest lie in history about environmental tobacco smoke. Even the HSE agreed that there was no risk (although the document - OC 255/15 has now been replaced with an emasculated version - OC 255/16 - this being in itself a sinister development). Repeatedly challenged to produce evidence the anti-smokers can only bluster and shout "Roy Castle".

My father, Reverend George Speller, one time vicar of xxxxxx parish, and a smoker and socialist all his long life, taught me to stand up for the truth, and to think for myself. Now I find myself out of step. We have become so blinded by the lies backed by big Pharma - who have a vested interest in "smoking cures" that to speak up for truth and common sense is to be hounded for heresy.

I have to tell you that while this unjustified and illiberal ban remains in place I will not be voting for you. I will vote in any way that is likely to keep the BNP out, but it will not be for the Labour party I once loved, cherished and cheered.

I have the courage of my convictions. Do you?

Yours sincerely,

George Speller

I’m Robert E. Madden MD, FACS. I am also a non-smoker. HOWEVER I am a passionate opponent smoking bans. Most of the opposition to the smoking bans has been based upon economic factors such as loss of business revenue, even closings. My opposition is due to loss of individual freedom and abuse of scientific fact.

I am a practicing chest surgeon, a teacher and a former cancer researcher. I am also past president of the New York Cancer Society. I will not tell you that smoking is harmless and without risk, in fact one in eight hundred smokers will develop lung cancer. Asthmatics should avoid tobacco smoke. What I will say is: 1) it’s a personal choice and 2) so called second smoke (ETS) is virtually harmless. One may not like the smell but it has not been shown to cause cancer, even in bartenders. If people do not like the odor then they may go elsewhere. Those who support the ban have no right to deny 24% of the adult population their enjoyment of a popular product based on dislike, possibly hatred of smoking. This attitude is that of a bigot, akin to anti-Semitism or racism.

Fascist Nazi anti-tobacco activists succeeded in banning smoking from government offices, civic transport, university campuses, rest homes, post offices, many restaurants and bars, hospital grounds and workplaces. Tobacco taxes were raised, cigarette vending machines were banned, and there were calls for a ban on smoking while driving.

Thanks to party-sponsered 'junk science' from the Ministry of Science & Education and the Reich Health Office, posters and cinema 'shorts' were produced depicting smoking as the typically despicable habit of Jews, jazz musicians, Gypsies, Indians, homosexuals, blacks, communists, capitalists, cripples, and harlots.

Zealous lobbyists descended into the schools, terrifying children with tales of impotence, racial impurity and spontaneous abortion. (source: BMJ No 7070 Volume 313)

Any of this sound familiar?

"in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper stata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily, and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods."

A.Hitler, Mein Kampf

The term "passive smoking" (Passivrauchen) was coined by the Nazi Anti-Tobacco League. Its author, Fritz Lickint, offered no supporting evidence to claim that smokers poisoned everyone around them, while also stating that drinking coffee caused cancer.

from an earlier posting . . . .

The HSE gives its views here at para 9: 'the evidential link between exposure to risk in exempted premises will be hard to establish,. In essence, HSE cannot produce epidemiological evidence to link levels of exposure to the raised risk of contracting specific diseases ...' .

NOTE - This link no longer works because:

SCANDAL - since this link was published the HSE have edited this document and republished it as OC 255/16

Imagine our surprise then, when we were told OC 255/15 was no longer on the HSE website as an accessible document. A quick emailed response revealed that this document, which was not due for review until 2011, had been replaced by OC 255/16. Readers will not be surprised to learn that paragraph 9 in 255/15 dealing with the epidemiological evidence based statement, had been removed and a watered down version replaced it at paragraph 14, with no mention of the HSE’s previous conclusions.

and we thought 1984 was long past . . .

"My daughter was fit and healthy before she started taking this drug, but now the doctors say she has to be on medication for the rest of her life. I am blaming Zyban for this," Susan Sinclair, quoted in "Ban anti-smoking pill that wrecked my life," Northern Echo (UK), July 23, 2001.

At last - evidence of ASH's strict adherence to the truth - on their VERY OWN FRONT PAGE at http://www.ash.org/ they make the following link - read and weep!

Meanwhile, over the pond:
"Field studies of environmental tobacco smoke indicate that under normal conditions, the components in tobacco smoke are diluted below existing Permissible Exposure Levels (PELS.) as referenced in the Air Contaminant Standard (29 CFR 1910.1000)...It would be very rare to find a workplace with so much smoking that any individual PEL would be exceeded."

Britain being Britain, the news is that we're going to have sad little monkeys, sexually frustrated penis-faced Hitler wannabes, desperate to victimise someone, snooping around our bars at the employ of the local council. And soon, we're told, there'll be council officials snooping to ensure we don't drink too much when we're down the pub of an evening: believe me, alcohol will be next on their list of stuff to ban. - Rod Liddle The Times

"Our Fuhrer Adolf Hitler drinks no alcohol and does not smoke.... His performance at work is incredible." (From Auf der Wacht 1937:18)

"More than 14 million lawful smokers will be stripped of their dignity shepherded outside pubs to the humiliation chambers for officialdom to sneer at. I see it as nothing more than a government incited hate crime against people going about their lawful business."

Hamish Howitt, licensee of the Happy Scots Blackpool

The Advertising Standards Authority has upheld complaints against the Department of Health for its anti-smoking advertising campaign. Advertisements showed smokers with giant fishhooks piercing their cheeks. Another showed a hook pulling a mother away from her small daughter. A third depicted a man being pulled through traffic and into a newsagent's shop to buy cigarettes.
