Trying, as always, to take a rise out of purists, we deliberately chose what is probably the world's most well known morris tune. It turned out to be great fun to play, with plenty of opportunities for variations and improvisation on the fly. During the rounds the band breaks the rhythm up into sets of four big syncopated stabs to give a bit of extra spice to the tune. Musicians have been known to get bored in the middle and play The Keel Row as a counter melody, which fits quite well.
A sung intro in key of D was added to this dance in 2004
