The tune is a version of Bobby Shaftoe that its own mother wouldn't recognise. A slow tempo with lots of melodic fills and twiddly bits, and a rocky rhythm put plenty of power into this tune. George's mum. a reconstructed Geordie, used to sing it when he was very small. Yes, it had been written then. There is a repeated A in the middle of the dance during the Star and arms - which is double length. This is where the key changes from D to G, a move which jacks up the meatiness rating. In this tune the As and Bs are reversed so technically the format is BBA. To complete the salty flavour we intro with the Liverpool tune The Big Ship Sails on the Ally Ally Ooh. Hope that's the right title.
