Bambi Owners Club

1500 Bambi Motorhomes were made by Autohomes between 1986 and 1992. The coachbuilt body in traditional caravan style is constructed of insulated aluminium foam sandwich. The body is mounted on a Bedford Rascal pickup truck chassis. The whole thing is powered by a tiny Suzuki 1000cc petrol engine. Indoors are a tiny galley with fridge, butane gas cooker top with grill and sink with pumped water from a built in 11 gallon tank. The Bambi can seat 4-6 guests when used in the saloon mode, or sleep two (with a possible child's berth in the Luton over-cab section).

The Bambi Owners Club has 251 of these vehicles registered, and 80 members regularly attend club rallies. The club members are also keen to hear about the uses to which these diminutive camper vans are put. I use mine for morris dancing weekends.

The ridiculous Bambi with its absurd name is loved fiercely by its owners who will defend it to the last!
